Thursday: none Friday: 8 times table
Students will be given a quiz with 20 multiplication problems. Students will be given 1 ½ minutes to answer the 20 questions. Each quiz will be on one times table (ie. 2 times table only).
Students will take mixed practice quizzes throughout the unit.
If your child does not score an 80% or better, your child will be given 2 additional chances to meet the 80% score. The score of the final quiz will be the one recorded for your child.
If your child receives a score of 75% or below, you will need to sign the quiz sheet and return. The re-take quiz will be given on the following day.
I will be sending home some multiplication and division flash cards this week with your child. If you would like additional copies of these flash cards, you can print copies at home for your child.
I am a firm believer in memorization. I strongly suggest students memorize their multiplication facts!
Suggestions:
1. Have your child use cereal in order to model multiplication problems by making equal groups of cereal in order to learn their math facts.
2. Have your child practice with flashcard.
3. Have your child draw arrays to model multiplication problems.
4. Provide your child with computer time to play multiplication games.
