About the Teacher

I have been teaching middle school students for 43 years: 14 at Madonna
Middle School at St. Benedict's, 22 years at Ascension School and now here
for my seventh year at St. Mark. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Arts
degree in English and Secondary Education from Towson University, I
my Maryland teacher certification and my Master's Equivalency.

In 2005 I completed the course requirements for a
Certificate in Environmental Studies from Johns Hopkins University. I
currently hold both Maryland State Advanced Professional Certification as
well as Catechist Certification.

I have now been married for 41 years and have 4 beautiful children:
Katie, Henry, Charlie, and Anna. Katie works for Elijah Cummings; Henry
works for T. Rowe Price; Charlie is a cantor and accompanist at the Church
of the Ascension, and Anna is the director of Children of America in
County. My husband Henry is also a teacher of grade 8--at Ellicott Mills
Middle School in Howard County. In our spare time we enjoy hiking in
Patapsco State Park, and traveling to Longwood Gardens, Ladew Gardens,
City, and Assateague. We also keep busy with our 5 grandchildren.

  In 2005, I completed a two-year project to write a local wildflower
for Patapsco State Park. There are copies of this guide at the Avalon
Visitor Center and in my classroom.
