I have been teaching middle school students for 39 years: 14 at Madonna
Middle School at St. Benedict's, 22 years at Ascension School and now here for
my third year at St. Mark. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
English and Secondary Education from Towson University, I obtained my Maryland
teacher certification and my Master's Equivalency.
In 2005 I completed the course requirements for a
Certificate in Environmental Studies from Johns Hopkins University. I
currently hold both Maryland State Advanced Professional Certification as
well as Catechist Certification.
I have now been married for 37 years and have 4 beautiful children:
Katie, Henry, Charlie, and Anna. Katie works for Elijah Cummings; Henry
works for T. Rowe Price; and Charlie atttends CCBC, and Anna attends UMBC.
My husband Henry is also a teacher of grade 8--at Ellicott Mills Middle School
in Howard County. In our spare time we enjoy hiking in Patapsco State Park,
and traveling to Adkins Arboretum, Ocean City, and Assateague.
In 2005, I completed a two-year project to write a local wildflower guide
for Patapsco State Park. There are copies of this guide at the Avalon
Visitor Center and in my classroom.
Mission For The Class
The mission for this class is quite simple:
--to grow in love, fellowship, and service in the spirit of our Lord
--to prepare for entrance into high school
--to be role models for others
--to provide a broad base of scientific knowledge
