Bienvenue ! Welcome to the French Speaking World!
You are about to enter an exciting adventure into expanding your
world. You will learn to communicate in the most beautiful language
spoken. You will gain access to tremendous opporunity and have fun learning
about new cultures. You have made a wise decision in studying French!
Congratulations!
The Discovering French Nouveau textbook editions are in use. They are the
Discovering French Bleu Nouveau for Level One classes and Discovering French
Blanc Nouveau for Levels Two and Three. Both books have a 2007 copywright
date. Coresponding workbooks must be ordered as well.
St. Mary's students who have a 90% or better in French and an overall average
of 80% or better in other subjects and who are enrolled in French III or
above are eligible for acceptance into the National French Honor Society
or Socété Honoraire de Français. Four service hours are acquired as well.
These hours may be earned by tutoring French, helping with Foreign Language
Week and with the French Honor Society Induction.
Tutoring is available after school in B2 unless Madame is in a meeting.
French Honor Society students are also available for tutoring. Students must
arrange schedules with Madame.
Please see Madame if you are interested in the student exchange program to
Lyon,France. The exchange takes place in June and July. The exchange also
offers an optional 2-3 day trip to Paris for a fee of around $300.00. The
other cost is your flight over to France in June and your spending money
during your stay. Room and board in Lyon are provided by the host families.
You return the favor when your exchange student comes to stay with you in
July. Often the families will take you on vacation to areas outside of Lyon.
See me for names of students who have already participated in this wonderful
experience.
