Hello and welcome to my website. Thank you for entrusting the education of
your son to me. This is now my third year at Avalon, and my seventh year as a
teacher. In addition to my teaching duties in the history department, I am
also the Athletic Director and the Head Varsity Football Coach. If you need
to contact me, E-Mail is the best way to reach me during the school day.
My background: I am originally from Ohio. I hold a BA in History with a Minor
in Military Science from Capital University (Columbus, Ohio. I have a Masters
in Education with an emphasis in History from Campbell University (Buies
Creek, NC). I served for four years on active duty in the Army and three
years in the Army Reserves. I was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC and have
overseas tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. Before coming to Avalon, I taught in
the Social Studies Department at Harnett Central High School in Angier, NC
where I also served as an Assistant Varsity Football Coach and Assistant
Varsity Basketball Coach.
I am married to my college sweetheart (going on 9 years), the former Jennifer
Williams. We have two sons, JT (Avalon Class of 2025) and Jack (Avalon Class
of 2027).
I strive to uphold the mission statement for the school in my class and in
athletics.
The Avalon School, an independent school for boys, seeks to cultivate in its
students intellectual freedom, personal responsibility, and a spirit of
adventure in an atmosphere that allows boys to be boys. The distinctive
learning characteristics of young men are addressed both in and out of the
classroom through a curriculum steeped in the humanities and sciences, the
arts and athletics. A faculty well-versed in the liberal arts serve as both
teachers and role-models. The school desires to form boys into men of faith
and purpose who will help foster a more human, more vital society through
their daily lives as husbands, fathers, professionals and citizens.
