About The Teacher

This is my first year teaching at The Calverton School. I earned a B.Sc.
from Longwood University, and a M.Sc. from The College of William & Mary.
Prior to taking this job, I was a Faculty Research Assistant at the
Chesapeake Biological Laboratory in Solomons Island, and an Environmental
Scientist at the Naval Air Station, Patuxent River. I am also coaching the
Varsity Field Hockey team, and will be involved in the lacrosse program.

Mission For The Class

This is the first year for the Lower School Science and Technology program.
This program will allow the students to receive a more in-depth study of
science with technology integrated into the lessons. For instance, students
will have the opportunity to perform hands-on experiments, record the data
in Excel, create graphs, and then present them to the class. This
presentation may then also be uploaded to the website as a Podcast for
parents to view from home. The Calverton School’s 100 Acre Woods is
excellent venue for taking the students outside to learn more about the
ecology of marshes, woodlands, meadows, and ponds. The implementation of
this program is an exciting addition to the Lower School.
