Welcome to a brand new school year! My name is Cherrise Whye, and I
will be your child's 4th grade teacher for the 2013-2014 school year. I am
originally from Delaware and have been teaching for the past 14 years. I am
very excited to be teaching 4th grade again this year.
Here at Thomas Jefferson Elementary/Middle School we believe in the
International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, and we also believe in the
abilities of our students. You will find that I am a very supportive,
demanding and education motivated teacher. I have high expectations for my
students and want them to be successful. I expect all of my students to
complete assignments, projects and homework. I expect all work to be of high
quality.
I am looking forward to forming a partnership with you and your child.
I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous
responsibility. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student has
a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However, I
cannot do this alone; I need your help. We both need to be partners in the
learning process. I need each of you to encourage your child at home by
helping to ensure that they have completed their assignments, homework,
projects, attend school and come to school prepared and on time. I will keep
you informed of all assignments and subjects that are covered in class
through newsletters, weekly/monthly summary reports and through homework
assignments.
This year I will have a website in which all subject areas,
announcements, reminders, homework and list of things needed will be
updated. Please use this website for your benefit and use my e-mail for any
questions or concerns you may have.
I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year!
Sincerely,
Ms. Whye
