Dismissal Procedures

These procedures have been established to help insure that all
children are safe from the time they are dismissed from their
classroom until they arrive home:

A note or phone call is required for a student to go anywhere
other than their normal destination. For example: If a student
normally rides Bus #17, then that student should always ride Bus #17,
unless the parent sends a note or calls the school. Notes are
preferred. Without a note or phone call from the custodial parent,
the child will be sent home in the usual manner.

Any parent wishing to pick-up their child prior to 3:20 p.m.
will be considered “leaving early” and should report to the office
upon arrival at school. Their children will be called to the main
office upon request. Each teacher has been instructed not to release
a student from class without a call from the office.

Car riders: Any student who will be riding home in a car will
be dismissed at 3:20 p.m. Car drivers (parents, guardians, parent
designees, etc) should park the car (not in the bus lane) and come
into the lobby area/cafeteria. From 3:05-3:15 each day a staff member
will be writing a checklist of adults present to pick-up students who
will be riding home in a car. No student will be allowed to go with
another parent unless the school has a note stating who will be
picking them up after school. The children will come to the lobby for
dismissal. Drivers are requested to load their cars quickly to avoid
traffic congestion with the arrival of the school buses.

Walkers: These students will be dismissed via announcement at
3:20 p.m. and will use the doors leading toward the alley. Walkers
are not to get in cars to ride home. Walkers will not be permitted to
use the gate on the playground to cross the tracks to Maryland
Avenue. CSX regulations prohibit our children to cross the tracks
anywhere but a railroad designated crossing area.

Bus Students: Students who will board buses will be called
from the cafeteria or gym upon the arrival of the buses.
