In 6th grade Geography and World Cultures, we will begin a two
year study of the world and its people that is continued in Geography and
World Cultures II (7th grade Social Studies). We will study critically
history, geography, economic, political, and social institutions, traditions,
institutions, and values. We will work to develop a sense of civic
responsibility and place value on active civic participation. All of this will
give students perspectives on their own life experiences as they see
themselves as part of the larger human adventure in time and space.
To do this, we will study four major units, briefly described
below. If you would like more information on specific objectives, visit the
curriculum website for Howard County listed on the links page.
