About The Teacher

Mrs. Tanner graduated from St. Mary's College of Maryland with a B.A. in
History in 2002. She went on to get a Masters in Teaching from Towson in 2004.
Now in her sixth year of teaching, Mrs. Tanner has taught all three grades and
can honestly say she really likes the middle school student and appreciates
the unique qualities each grade level and each individual student provides.

Contrary to popular belief, teachers do not live at school! When she is not
teaching, Mrs. Tanner loves traveling, watching movies,
scrap booking, and reading. Mrs. Tanner had the wonderful
opportunity to experience Japanese culture first hand through a grant given to
her by NCTA. She hopes to use this experience to better educate her 6th grade
students fourth quarter when we study Asia!

Class Mission

My goal as an educator is to create lessons that engage and challenge
students. I see myself as a facilitator of learning, challenging my students
to discover their world through interacting with it and each other. If you
were to come into my room, my hope would be that you would see students using
a variety of sources (pictures, letters from different countries, videos
showing the world, etc.), games, and each other to learn about the world we
live in, its geography and history.
