A Change in Point of View
“Flowers for Algernon” is
written entirely from Charlie’s point of view. In this writing assignment, you are going to write a related
piece in a different point of view.
Choose one of the following assignments and write one paragraphs or more
on the topic:
Choice 1: Re-write the incident that happened to
Charlie when he went out with his friends to Muggsy’s Saloon as described in
Progress Report 9. Write it from
the point of view of Frank Reilly, Joe Carp, or someone else who might have
known about it (suggestions: the
policeman, the landlady (Mrs. Flynn), the bartender or a patron in the bar.)
Choice 2: Write about a made up incident at work
in the spirit of the way Frank and Joe treat Charlie as shown in Progress
Reports 8 and 9. Write from the
point of view of a co-worker or the boss, Mr. Donnegan.
