Mr. Robert Keddell

Robert Keddell is entering his 37th year of teaching and has worked in 
environments that range from Harlem in New York City to Ithaca, New York to 
Howard County, Maryland.  Along the way he has also spent six years on loan 
from Howard County to Baltimore City to help start the Ingenuity Project for 
Math and Science Acceleration.  Other hats that Mr. K wears includes Program 
Director for Summer Programming at the Smithsonian Associates and locally 
through Howard County Parks and Recreation, as well as faculty advisor adjunct
faculty in the graduate Teacher Leadership program at Johns Hopkins
University.  At Johns Hopkins, Mr. K teaches the Action Research Course for
School Improvement and the Capstone course in Teacher Leadership.  It is
exciting for "Mr. K" to work with LKMS grade 6 students as their teacher and
the Lime Kiln Middle School community to design specialized youth enrichment
and technology community outreach programs to address service learning
requirements and to support new classroom initiatives.

                     GRADE 6 SOCIAL STUDIES COURSE

The major focus of study in grade 6 Social Studies is geography and world
cultures.  Students will be mastering critical map and graph skills, building
their Social Studies vocabulary, and examining a variety of world geographic
and cultural settings.  They will accomplish their studies using textbooks,
active classroom challenges, computers, online vocabulary opportunities and
other media technology resources.

                     GRADE 6 SCIENCE COURSE

The major focus of study in 6th grade Science is Earth and Space Science. 
Students will be mastering critical science skills and processes, building
their Science vocabulary, and learning to become more systematic and
sophisticated in conducting investigations.  Students will also be reading
about and discussing current issues and scientific discoveries.  They will
accomplish their studies using textbooks, active classroom laboratory
exercises, outdoor learning, computers,online vocabulary opportunities and
other media technology resources.

                   TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT TEACHER

  The technology support teacher position is a collaborative professional
development post between the principal of LKMS, the Office of Media and
Education Technology and the LKMS Community.  It is a school-based program in
development to support staff members and students.  Sample objectives include:

1. To deliver professional support for staff for the differentiation of
instruction using technology.
2. To involve parents and the community in the use of educational technology.
3. To implement an Exemplary Educational Technology Program at LKMS.

          AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS/GREEN SCHOOL STATUS

   This responsibility is to promote,facilitate and implement programming that
addresses Service Learning for Students, Enrichment Opportunities and
Speciallized Programming Opportunities in full cooperation with teachers,
students, parents and educational community partners aligned with the after
