About The Teacher

Mrs. Bae was born and raised in Busan, South Korea until she moved to
Maryland when she was in high school. As a teenager she was faced with
difficulties of learning new language and culture. However, during that time,
she met her favorite teachers who helped and influenced her to right direction
– Mr. Donnelly (ESOL), Ms. France (Art), Mr.Barnes (Art), and Mr. Loving
(counselor). She also met a good friend, Danny, at her high school, whom she
married 10 years later. With help from her favorite teachers and Danny, Mrs.
Bae was able to get enrolled to her dream-college, MICA (Maryland Institute
College of Art) with a full scholarship. At MICA, she explored and
experimented with a wide variety of art from different cultures and era. She
earned both of her BFA (Bachelor in Fine Arts) and MAT (Master of Art
Teaching) Degrees at MICA. In the spring of 2006, Mrs. Bae won the honor of
being the Finalist for MAT program’s Special Awards in Art Education.

Mrs. Bae is passionate about exploring new things and learning from
that experience. She encourages students to have open-minded attitude and try
a new thing without a fear of failing.

In her spare time, she likes to visit art galleries, enjoys outdoor
cooking with her husband, and volunteers to help with her church events. She
is a big fan of contemporary Christian musicians such as Chris Tomlin and
Lincoln Brewster.

Mrs. Bae currently teaches at Lime Kiln Middle School and had taught
elementary/middle school level GT art program at Howard County Public Schools
during the spring of 2009. Also, Mrs. Bae has worked at Smithsonian’s summer
program and MICA’s Young People’s studio program.
