Welcome to the new 2009-2010 school year! This year I will be teaching two 6th grade science classes and three 7th grade reading classes, so I will get to see many of you for a second year! Please explore the pages on my website for calendar updates and due dates, weekly homework assignments and schedules, bonus and extra credit opportunities, and other information. I will add a new 7th grade extra credit section so that my 7th graders have an opportunity to obtain a little grade insurance like my 6th graders do. As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or comments! So sit back, relax, and enjoy the year! PARENTS/GUARDIANS: This website (sciencebuddies.com) is an absolute wonder to use! Everything that your child needs to do for our project has a page devoted to doing it correctly! You can find help for everything in this site! It is easy to use and to navigate - you could set your child up on the homepage within 60 seconds and the tabs at the top of the page will direct you and your child to whatever you need to find and do a project! We highly recommend that your child take the survey under the Topic Selection Wizard (under the Project Ideas tab) to narrow their focus and search. It takes about 5 minutes or less to do the survey, and the site will list dozens of ideas for your child to pick from! Once your child is in the site, it should be very easy to find anything that is needed to complete the various parts of the project. If your child encounters any difficulty, it would not take you much time at all to use the site with your child to find the needed answers! And, at any time, feel free to ask Mr. Baranson or I for help - we can direct you to the places in the site for assistance. It is very difficult to do poorly on this project if you use the website! It should be a great learning experience producing a wonderful science project for the Enrichment Fair in May!
