Welcome to my class!
This is my fourth year at Lime Kiln Middle School, and my
third year teaching sixth grade English. During my first year, I was an eighth
grade reading teacher. Before coming to LKMS, I taught fifth grade
for 12 years at Northfield Elementary in Ellicott City.
Although I am a native New Yorker, I moved to Maryland in 1994 from
Connecticut where I spent five years teaching fourth and fifth grade in East Lyme
and Groton. Prior to that, I had taught at Connecticut College in
the Child Development department, teaching young children and supervising
college students in the laboratory preschool.
I live in Columbia with my husband and have two grown sons, Dylan, who lives
in Baltimore, and Jesse, who got married last year and lives in Brooklyn, NY
with his wonderful wife,Virginia.
When I'm not teaching or grading papers,I love to exercise, play tennis, and
read. I've just returned from a wonderful vacation with my whole family in
Wellfleet,Cape Cod, which is one of my favorite places in the world!
To establish a classroom environment in which all students develop a deeper
understanding of themselves and their world through reading a rich variety of
literature,and to develop confidence to share their original ideas through
discussions, prose, and poetry.
