H.S.A. review

Materials Required: 3-ring binder, paper, graph paper, pencil, pen,
calculator, glue stick.
Class Rules/Expectations:
·	Student handbook rules on behavior and respect will be followed.
·	Student will be on time to class every day. Parents please schedule
appointments after school & out-of-town visits on non-school days. This is an
H.S.A. assessed class.
·	Students should be seated when the bell rings with their warm-up
paper & homework out on their desk.
·	Work must be turned in on time containing the student’s name, row #
and date on the top of the paper. It is expected that the student will keep
all work.
·	Late work: Each student may turn in one late homework assignment,
once each marking period This assignment must be turned in the next class day
and will receive full credit. All other late papers will receive a zero. This
does not apply to papers, which are time sensitive. I will always announce
these papers in advance.
·	Students have one week after grades are posted (grades are posted
once a week) to dispute a grade.

Academic Integrity: All academic integrity violations will follow the
referral process as outlined in the student handbook. Copying or letting
others copy homework is an academic integrity violation. A common question
about academic integrity is about work done by a group of students during
class, such as a lab. Answers to lab questions, graphs, or lab write ups,
must be done individually and may not be copied.

Grading policy: Grades are determined by dividing the points accumulated by
total points possible. Typically tests & quizzes = 40 – 50%, labs & projects
approximately 30% & homework 30%. I do not weight categories but assign the
highest point value to tests & quizzes and lowest to homework. Extra credit
if offered is tied to the curriculum.

Attendance policy: Refer to the attendance policy in the student handbook.
Please schedule appointments after school to avoid missing class.

H.S.A. : The Biology H.S.A. will be given on May 17, 2010. All students must
pass this test to graduate from High School in Maryland. Our department
offers review sessions, games and links to help students prepare for the
test.
