PARENTS:
HELP KIDS ORGANIZE THEIR AFTER SCHOOL TIME TO
ALLOW
PRACTICE.
THEN TALK ABOUT
THE IMPROVEMENTS YOU HEAR. SOME DAYS ARE
FRUSTRATING FOR THEM.....BUT
KEEP ENCOURAGING THEM.
PRACTICE WILL BRING SUCCESS!!
NOW GO HOME AND PRACTICE:
How often and for how long?
There are lots of creative ways to encourage your child to practice.
One Mom allows a reprieve from
"dish duty" when her child is practicing.
Link practice time to a certain time or daily event: right after
feeding the dog, right after dinner, right after(or before) the favorite show.
Be creative in choosing.
Begin by aiming for 15 minutes. Set the microwave(power level -0-) or a timer
and STOP when the
time is up. It is amazing what can be accomplished by actually PLAYING for
only 15 minutes.
(set up doesn't count)
THE REWARDS OF PRACTICE COME IN PLAYING
DAY AFTER DAY,
NOT
IN PLAYING A VERY LONG TIME ON JUST ONE DAY.
