Seedfolks Writing Assignment: Developing a new character
Goals:
To use prior knowledge about characters and point of view to develop a new character for the book
Seedfolks.
Stories will be put together to create a collection of Team 2 Seedfolks stories.

Assignment: Paul Fleischman gives each character a distinct background, voice, set of problems, needs
and goals. Your goal is to contribute to the Seedfolks book by creating a new character to add to the
book. Tell the story from that characters point of view. Include:
their name
where they are from,
what brings them to the garden
problems?
what do they plant
what do they gain from the experience
written in 1st person from the characters view point.
Brainstorm: Use an Inspiration Web to help you plan out your story.
Rough draft: Write a rough draft of your story
Revise: Make sure your story meets the requirements/
Final copy: Type your final copy Give it a title

About 350 words long
Size 12 double spaced
Use standard English conventions
Due Dates: Rough draft: 5/28 Final copy: 6/6
Extra Credit: Add an illustration that relates to your character
