The BMS Student Assistance Team (SAT) is a group of teachers and counselors
who meet every two weeks to brainstorm ideas for supporting students who are
having a difficult time in school. The chair of this committee is Kristin
Carlson.
SAT staff members include Ms. R.Smith, Ms. Fenney, Mrs. Avery, Mrs. Rudman,
Ms. Donohoe, Ms. Mozden and Ms. Maguire.
HOMEWORK CLUB
The SAT offers a weekly Homework Club on Wednesdays after school until the
late bus at about 3:15 p.m. We provide a snack and several teachers are
available to help students get organized and complete homework.
UNE MENTORS
We are fortunate to have several University of New England (UNE) college
students serve as mentors to our SAT students. They meet once weekly in
pairs. They work on homework, talk about how things are going lately, and
play games.
STUDENT TUTORS
We have many eighth grade National Junior Honor Society students who
volunteer their time to tutor students who are part of our SAT program.
REFERRALS
Anyone can refer a student to the SAT. Referrals must go through Guidance.
Once a referral has been accepted, a case manager on the SAT will contact
the person(s) referring the student with more information. SAT does not
accept referrals of students already receiving special education services.
