SCHOOL COUNSELORS IN GUIDANCE - Mrs. Angela (Fiandaca) Avery, M.Ed. & Ms.
Nancy Fenney, M.Ed.
The two school counselors in Guidance serve all students in grades 6-8.They
work with individual and group counseling,new student registrations,
schedules, MEA testing, and academic support.
Mrs. (Fiandaca) Avery joined BMS in 2007. She loves field hockey, the
book "Stargirl," and her yellow smiley face box of candy in her office. She
got married in April 2009, so her name is different now - and a lot easier
to spell!

Ms. Fenney joined BMS in 1989. She loves traveling, reading, and going

SOCIAL WORKER- Ms. Kristin Carlson, LCSW
The school social worker provides supportive counseling and social work
services to any BMS students and families in need.
Ms. Carlson is a licensed clinical social worker. She joined BMS in
2000. She loves running, reading and her two sons. Contact:

SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER- Officer Pete Wentworth
The school resource officer works with students and families to resolve
school related issues that may otherwise result in police contact if
conducted off school property.
SCHOOL NURSE- Ms. Ruth Persson
All students have access to our full-time school nurse. She helps to cure a
variety of ailments.
Ms. Persson is a family nurse practitioner. She loves walking, hiking,

SWEETSER CLINICAL COUNSELOR- Ms. Sara Russell, LCSW
The Sweetser clinical counselor provides children and family therapy. Anyone
may refer a student to this service. Referrals should go through Ms.
Carlson, school social worker.
SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELOR- Ms. Donna Maguire, LMSW-CC, LADC
Ms. Maguire specializes in substance abuse work. She provides
individual counseling and group support to any students affected by their
own or their family's substance abuse issues. She has been at BMS since
1998. She loves reading, gardening, and dancing. Contact:

At Biddeford Middle School, we believe that all students should be supported
with the tools to reach their fullest potential. The BMS Support Services
Team is dedicated to serving the needs of all students so that they may
reach their goals and be successful lifelong learners and community members.
We pledge to provide a variety of support services so that the needs of all
of our students may be served.
We provide: individual and group counseling, family support, new student
support, legal resources, Student Assistance Team, crisis support, health
services, academic support, and more.
