Math with Mrs. Solebello

We are coming to the end of our first unit of study of arrays and factors.
After reviewing some of the key concepts, we will take the final assessment
next Wednesday. Our next unit will be focusing on estimation and computation.
Watch for the different strategies your child will be exploring for the
multiplication of whole numbers and decimals.
It is important that students keep practicing their multiplication facts.
Mrs. Albury is working on a schedule to offer “Power Lessons” for anyone that
needs extra help with their facts.

Reading and Writing with Miss Wheeler

We’ve brought our first unit in reading to a close and as a result, nearly all
students have built a solid reading list to draw from throughout the first
trimester. We’ll be revisiting this list and reconstructing it each trimester
to follow student’s interests and skills as they grow. A key reading
strategy, THINKING ALOUD, was introduced and practiced last week and we’ll be
applying this in our second unit of study, CHARACTER CHANGE; which will begin
in the coming week with the cooperative reading of three different novels.
During this time, students will be working with vocabulary, applying active
reading strategies and beginning to develop their ability to answer questions
in writing.
**Special thanks to our Free Read Friday guest, Jeff Rodman! If you would like
the opportunity to visit on a Free Read Friday in the future and share a piece
of reading that inspires you, please get in touch with me! ☺
