I graduated from USM with a B.A in Environmental Science and Policy and
Poetry. I
then completed the ETEP (Extended Teacher's Educational Program) in 2003.
This is
my fifth year teaching here at Falmouth Middle School, but it is my seventh
year teaching.
I have now taught third, fourth and fifth graders and love them all!
Some of my favorites about teaching are inquiry science and having
thoughtful
discussions about the books that we read in class. I also love teaching
poetry and
writing because I love to write too!
In my spare time I am a potter. Feel free to look at my website
wongpottery.com to see what goes on in my other life. I also enjoy playing
with my three cats Mr. Bear, Poco and Declan, and our 3 year old black lab mix
Larry.
Some interesting facts about me include my traveling to China and
living in Ireland
for three months.
This summer I grew hordes of sunflowers, my favorite flower. Gardening
is another love as is watching things grow and mature.
I believe that all students can learn.
I believe that student and teacher relationships should be built upon trust
and respect.
I believe that it is necessary to have a partnership between parents,
students and teachers to be successful.
I believe that learning should be both challenging and fun, offering
opportunities for all students to succeed and thrive.
I believe students should be aware of learning goals to promote deep
understanding.
I believe the classroom environment needs elements of fun, comfort, safety,
movement and spirit uplift.
