Sometimes I meet with students when they request a visit to talk about an
issue or concern they might have. We brainstorm ideas or I give suggestions as
to how their concern might be resolved. Often, one visit will do it.
Sometimes students are referred to me by teachers or parents. These visits are
non-theraputic in nature. (I am not a therapist/mental health counselor!)
When a student visits the office once, parents are not usually called.
However, if the visits will be on-going, or I believe the concern is a
serious one, parents will be notified. And if the concern is beyond my level
of expertise, I might recommend outside counseling. I have a list of
counselors/therapists in the Seacoast Area that I will share with parents.
