MARCH INTO WELLNESS. For the month of March, MGWS will focus on wellness. We
will use the 5-2-1-0 program as our model. March 4-8, the focus will be on
"5" - eat at least five fruits and vegetables each day. The second week, the
focus will be on "2" - limit your recreational screen time to two hours a day.
One hour of daily exercise is the theme of the week for March 18 - 22. The
last week, 0 refers to zero sugary drinks. For more information on the
5-2-1-0 program, go to www.letsgo.org (Copy and paste link in your browser or
check them out on my "Web Links for Parents and Kids" site.)

GIRLS INC of New Hampshire will offer an after school program at Marshwood
Great Works School. The program, which explores issues that face girls in a
fun and supportive environment, is divided into three sessions throughout the
school year. The program's objective is "to provide a safe place for girls to
share their thoughts and fears."
The second session, "I Am Strong," will meet Mondays after school until 5 PM,
beginning February 4. (Parents must provide transportation home for their
daughters.) Flyers explaining the second session in more detail were
sent home with all girls last week. "I Am Strong" will focus on opportunities
available to girls and women in our world today. Special emphasis will be
place on the importance of education and staying in school.
The cost of one session is $75, but there are scholarships available. Stacey
Barlow, a district parent of three and an ed tech at the middle school, is the
facilitator. Contact Stacey @ 351-7505 or at Stacey@barlow.net for more
