When do 7-White teachers stay after school?

Each teacher will be available one afternoon per week for students who need assistance with
their work. The session starts right after school and ends at 3 o'clock. Students should make
arrangements beforehand to be picked up or to take the late bus home. The late bus leaves MMS
around 3:50.

What's the best way to contact 7-White teachers?

All 7-White teachers can be reached by e-mail and will usually respond within two working days.
Alternately, you can send in a note with your child. Please don't use our voice mail; the system is
not
always reliable, and we often spend extra time playing phone tag with each other. Thank you.

What is the purpose of the Advisory/Focus program?

The purpose of Advisory is to establish a supportive environment for students both academically
and socially. Activities target skills in goal setting, citizenship, decision making, studying, and
relationships.

We still have Focus at the end of the day. This is a time for students to make sure they
understand and are prepared for their homework, and to be sure that homework assignments are
written in their assignment books. We emphasize organization during this time.

How do I know if my child is doing his/her homework?

Your child should have approximately one to two hours of homework per night. There is no
studyhall during the day, so it would be almost impossible for a student to finish all homework
during the school hours. You should be concerned if your child is spending much less or much
more time on homework. Please contact us in either case.

All students have been issued an assignment book. All students should be writing down their
homework assignments in each class. When an assignment is finished, students can neatly cross
out the assignment or write "done. During Focus period at the end of each day,
assignments are reviewed and often the assignment books are initialed. PLEASE check your
student's assignment book daily. None of us want the children to get behind.
