On which day does each teacher stay for after-school help?

Monday: Mr. Barter
Tuesday: Mr. Petrie
Thursday: Mrs. Hundley
Friday: Mrs. Martin

Teachers are here other nights as well. If extra help is needed more
than
one night in a subject, make arrangements with the teacher.

What is the best method for parents to get in touch with team teachers?

Because teachers have found the School's Voice Mail system to be
unreliable, the best way for parents to get an initial contact with teachers
is via the district's email system.
To email a teachers, use the first letter of their first name with their
last name @msad35.net. (ex. jhundley@msad35.net)Other teachers
names:
rbarter, cgallo, jhundley, lpetrie, mmartin, mobyrne, and kgaleno.

What are the different teacher's policies on grading homework?

Mr. Barter (Reading):
Homework assignments which are graded count two grades ( not all homework
assignments are graded);quizzes count three; and tests/projects count five
grades. Work that
is up to a week late will generally have ten points deducted. After that, the
grade for that work is a
zero and can be made up as directed for a maximum grade of fifty up to one
week late. After that,
the paper receives a grade of zero which can be made up to a fifty (max.).
This does not apply in
cases of absence.

Mrs. Hundley (Math): The purpose of homework in math is to practice a
skill for speed and accuracy or to extend or reflect on what has been
learned. I expect all my students to do their assigned work, but realize
that
sometimes life gets in the way and another day may be needed. If students
are
consistantly late on homework, I will require then to stay after school to
complete their work.
Algebra students will get homework most nights and their homework
grade will be based consistency.
General math students should expect homework about three nights
per week based on what they need to practice. Often homework will be
differentiated and students will not all be working on the same skills. In
these cases homework will be called "skills practice" in the homework
section of this webpage, but they will list the precise assignment in their
agenda books. I will ask the students to stay after school to complete their
work if they are neglecting their responsibilities.
Math homework is not used as an assessment of what students
know and are able to do based on work done outside of the class, but does
represent a valuable learning opportunity for students.

Mrs. Martin's Science Homework Policy:
 * Student work turned in after due date will be considered for full credit.
 * Assigned work is expected to be completed.
 * Students will fill out a "Work Completion Plan" for late work.
 * Parents will be contacted if work completion is an issue.
 * Failure to assigned work could result in poor performance on quizzes and
tests for material the student is required to learn.

"It is not so much a matter of WHEN they learn, but rather WHETHER
they learn."
Homework and assigned work is expected to be completed on time
and with high quality. Recognizing the various skill levels and learning
styles of my students, I will give students time to complete their work. If
work is not completed, students will fill out a "Work Completion Plan" and
reflect on why the work was not done/completed. They will write out a plan
for how they will complete the work. (Sometimes it is an organizational
problem that students will have to address by making sure they have all the
necessary materials prior to leaving school. Sometimes it is a case of not
knowing how to do some aspect of the assignment. In this case all students
have my home telephone number, 384-4253, and they may call me before 8:30
PM for additional clarity. In some cases there are activities/reasons in
students' personal lives that will take priority over the assigned work.)
If the work completion plan that the student designs does not work, I
will confer with the student to help design a plan that will be more
successful for them. Parents will be informed if a pattern of poor work
ethic begins.
The natural consequences for not coming to class ready to learn with
completed assignments will be the possibility of your child not being
able to demonstrate what they are required know and are able to do when
they are assessed on tests and quizzes.
Science homework is not used as an assessment of what students
know and are able to do based on work done outside of the class, but does
represent a valuable learning opportunity for students.
Students should be talking about and sharing with family what they
are learning in class. This extension and enthusiasm for learning is highly
productive.

"Your child has a right to learn, I have the responsibility to honor that
right."

Mr. Petrie (Social Studies) Mr. Petrie allows late work to come in at full
credit (assuming it is within reason) during t he first trimester. During the
second trimester, work that comes in late will be deducted according to the
severity of the lateness. The third trimester, anything that is late is an
automatic 50%.
