STANDING HOMEWORK: Read 2 hours MINIMUM per week (C+) on your IRB (Independent
Reading Book.)  Read even  over vacation, on weekends, etc. Home reading is 
20% of your LA grade.

Monday: Vocab #4 was due today.  Get in ASAP.  
Tuesday: Figurative Language study through reading Truman Capote's A Christmas
Memory.    Find and bring in winter/holiday/seasonal children's books
for read alouds to elementary children for our community service day.(Make sure your name is in the 
book!!!)   Practice reading aloud.
Wednesday: See above
Thursday: Poster project for A Christmas Memory using a figure of speech,
started in class on Friday.
Friday: Figure of Speech poster started today in class and finished on Monday.  Due on Monday at 
the end of class.

Respond to math blog (on portaportal) about LawnBoy (Period 8 by Thurs, Period
9 by Tues).

**Social Studies**
**I have decided to give you a test on only Gilded Age and Progressive 
notes.  Imperialism and Spanish American War will be after vacation.  
Monday- Review notes from movie in a "round activity". Response Group 
activity. Review essay for test. Homework: make flash cards and work on 
project
Tuesday- Work period. You may either finish up your project or work on the 
essay for the test. 
Wednesday- Projects due.  Share. Grade. Homework- create a test with ten 
excellent questions with answers.
Thursday- Review game (basketball)
Friday- TEST

Ms. Gallo's English Class> We are now in the last month of this decade.  
Write a descriptive essay 
that details some of the notable events that happened during this decade.  
Events identified can be 
ones that are important in your own personal life (such as the day you first 
were able to reach the 
top of the rock climbing wall or when you got your beloved pet).  You may 
also choose to identify 
historic events.  Your essay should be no longer than a page in length.  This 
is due Friday.

Ms. Gallo's Math Class>

First, calculate the following:

1. The ratio of boys to girls in your math class 2. The ratio of teachers to 
students in your math class  
3.  The ratio of male teachers to female teachers you have for this trimester 

Next, take these ratios and present them as percents.
Your answers need to be presented in full sentences using the data you 
found.  

Example: Ten percent of the students in class are male.  Ninety percent are 
female.

**Social Studies**
Monday- We will review the notes we took on the Gilded Age. Website activity. 
Complete the questions. Homework- finish worksheet and study notes for a quiz 
tomorrow on Gilded Age
Tuesday- Quiz on Gilded Age. Then, read pages 139-143 on the Progressive 
Movement. Make up 5 really good questions about the reading with answers.  We 
will use these in class on Wednesday.
Wednesday- Gilded Age project assigned. This will be due on Wednesday, 
December 16. We will review the reading with an activity called "Stump". 
Start notes on Progressives. Homework- Read excerpts from "The Jungle" by 
Upton Sinclair found in the links on our website and write two paragraphs, 
one being a summary and one being your reaction.
Thursday- Finish notes on Progressive Movement. Assign chapters to read.  If 
you are a one, please read Chapter 27 (144-147) and if you are a two, read 
Chapter 28 (148-151). Write a summary of your assigned chapter. 
Friday- No school.
**There will be a quiz on Tuesday on the Progressive notes.
