Laptops are finally distributed! No word yet when laptops will be allowed to
go home. 7Purple students are very excited to be working with their laptops. I
am too, especially to teach them good laptop care and use of the many apps
provided to them.
GRADES 7 and 8 participate in the Maine
Learning Technology Initiative (MLTI) which provide Apple
iBooks to all 7th and 8th grade students and their teachers.

7th GRADE -- Computer Applications -- 18 week session
Students will...
•practice good laptop care using the MLTI iBooks and follow the Acceptable Use
Policy as outlined in the Student Handbook
•use the school server to access Teachers’ Hand-In and Hand-Out folders and
their personal folders
•learn about network printer management
•practice basic trouble-shooting
•practice using the iBook’s file structure and naming and saving strategies
•create templates and aliases to manage their files and folders
•be introduced to and practice computer skills using the following software:
>NeoOffice and Pages: Word-Processing using clip art, creating Internet links
and document links, using the slide-show feature, formatting a document
>Spreadsheet formulas, graphing, sorting, importing into other documents
>introduction to DataBase
>Draw as an introduction to animation
>iPhoto for slide-shows using school digital cameras
>KeyNote & iTunes for multimedia presentations
>introduction to 3-D modeling using Sketch-Up
> participate in blogs
