Diane Binger is in her 5th year at the Middle School of the Kennebunks
after spending 12 years in the highly important position of stay at home
mom. While at home with her children she was a faculty mentor for the MSE
distance learning program at the University of New England. Prior to this she
served as a guidance counselor and teacher at the Alternative High School in
Hudson Falls, NY. Upon moving to South Carolina, she worked primarily with
at-risk teens as a high school guidance counselor in poverty stricken Jasper
County, South Carolina. Diane and her husband live in York with their two
children and their dog, Baxter.
MaryLou Selsby is in her 5th year at the Middle School of the Kennebunks
after spending more than 20 years as a high school guidance counselor in
Glendale, California. During her time in California, she served as head of
the Guidance Department and college counselor. Her many responsibilities
included supervising SAT preparation programs, financial aid workshops and
peer counseling training. She was also a member of the Glendale Teen Center
Board of Directors,the College/Career Fair Organizational Committee, the
High School Class Scheduling Committee and the School District Graduation
Requirement Committee. Mary Lou and her husband are both natives of
Massachusetts and spent many summmers in Kennebunkport before building a
home there in 2000.
Greg Hesse-Stromberg is in his 9th year at the Middle School of the
Kennebunks. He has worked with children and adolescents for over 18 years
in a variety of positions, including as an Outdoor Educator, Adventure Based
Therapist, Counselor in a residential treatment program, Athletic Coach, and
Psychotherapist providing office-based as well as home-based therapy. Greg
is also a member of the York County IMPACT team, providing crisis
interventions to school communities following a critical incident involving
a member of the school community. In addition, Greg has taught a State of
New Hampshire mandated course for divorcing parents for the past 8 years.
Outside of work, Greg enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter,
playing and watching a variety of sports, and reading.
The mission of the MSK counseling department is to provide support and
assistance to each student through the use of prevention and intervention
services. Coordination of services between the student, teachers, parents
and community is an important aspect of this work, but care is made to
maintain the confidentiality of every student and family.
