Parents and Students: The sales are on! Stock up on notebooks,
crayons, glue, pens, pencils, erasers!
SPECIAL NOTICE: NO BINDERS OR TRAPPER KEEPERS PLEASE. We do not
have room in our desks for this, and there is no need for it unless
you want to get one for a special research project. Otherwise, NO
BINDERS OR TRAPPER KEEPERS AT SCHOOL, thank you.
===============================
WHAT YOU DO NEED:
Notebooks.... You will need to bring:
-a Green notebook, wide ruled, at least 70 pages, for writings
-a Yellow notebook, wide ruled, at least 70 pages, for researching in
Science and Social Studies.
- Optional: a doodle notebook for doodling and designs, and deep
thoughts
The teacher will be supplying notebooks for Reading, Spelling Power,
and Homework lists. Just remember if you lose or misuse a notebook
that has been given to you, you must replace it. We use a color coded
system in our classroom. Be aware!
If you cannot find the right color, get what you can. We will glue
the right color paper to the notebook cover.
See the list below for what you will need.
Remember: notebook papers should be WIDE RULED! Look for those words
on the product cover or wrapper.
--------------------
Next:Pencil box! Get one that fits into the desk. When the teacher
says clear the desk top, that's what we do. No stuff stored on the
floors. No pens or pencils rolling around in the desk for little
fingers who visit the room to grab. Can't find a cheap pencil box? A
pencil bag or a giant freezer zip lock baggie will do.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Next: Pens and pencils! Catch a good sale! You will need 2 red ink
pens, 2 black or blue writing ink pens, and 2 pencils with erasers
ready at all times.
You will need red ink pens for checking work, editing work, and for
making corrections. Yes you can also use purple or green for
editing your writing work. But for checking works, you need RED.
Red crayons won't do, and don't depend on the red colored pencil, red
markers get messy on our papers. This decision is final.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
#2 writing pencil: Math activities will be completed in pencil,
regular #2 lead pencil. Do not expect the teacher to accept work
done in pen. Math and pencils go together! Pencils for Math. Have 2
pencils ready for work at all times. This decision is final.
No excuses! Let's be clear on this:
All written work except for in Math, Art, and Music, must be
completed in blue or black ink.
No excuses!
If you have a hard time with handwriting, use a larger barrel pen.
We do cursive handwriting in Grade 4, so you will need the right
tools for the job. Yes, we use the computers, too, but not all the
time for written work. Get with it! Get the pens! We will start out
with printing, but get ready for the big league of cursive writing!
You can do it!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Erasers are important, too. Big eraser! Yes, you will need one!
----------------------------------------------------------------
Lots of Crayons are optional.
Ms. Maleki caught a good sale on crayons, 24 colors. If you feel you
need more than that, you must provide it. However, you also have to
keep up with those colors. If you don't like the box, keep them in a
baggie. Crayons given to you at school must remain at school for your
use.
Remember to have a stash of crayons at
home, too. Yes, we have homework that requires you to color,
sometimes. Crayons given at school need to stay at school.
Remember, my job is to deliver a quality education to move your
skills along to academic success, and I believe in excellence!
Nothing less will do. Let's rise to the job to be done with
excellence and quality in mind using the right tools for the job.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Next:1 Water bottle with a screw on lid! If the lid doesn't screw on,
don't bring it to school. Some bottles have a screw on lid and a pop-
up thingie on top of that. Good design. Remember, the lid must screw
on. NO EXCEPTIONS. We will not be leaving the room at random just
for a water fountain break, so bring the water bottle with water!
Freezing it the night before? Remember to fill it not all the way up.
Water expands when frozen. Put an old sock on the bottle so that it
will soak up the extra moisture when the ice starts to thaw! Science
fact: when the cold bottle meets the warm air, the air next to the
bottle condenses and rain forms. That's what causes the sweaty look
and water drippings from the bottle itself. Now you know!
----------------------------------------------------------------
Next: If you need more restroom breaks beyond our scheduled 3 breaks,
you must bring a note from home requesting additional restroom
breaks. Our scheduled breaks: snack time, lunch time, after lunch
recess.
The note is for additional breaks, not in place of our breaks. It is
also an agreement that you, the student, will not misuse those extra
restroom breaks for sight seeing, visiting, socializing, just
because, goofing around. Misuse those extra breaks and you lose the
extra break privilege for 1 month. Then your parent has to send the
note all over again.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Colored Pencils ... Good for map works!
---------------------------------------------------------------
LOOK-LOOK! No binders, please! We do not have room for them in our
desks. Save that special noteobook binder paper also for special
projects and special books that we will write.
