I have a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maine in elementary
education with a mathematics concentration and a history minor. This
is my second year in Falmouth. I am in my ninth year of teaching. I have
experience teaching middle school mathematics and social studies.
I grew up in Sanford and graduated from Sanford High. From there, I went on
to UMaine, where I met my wife, Jennifer. We are the proud parents of two
wonderful children. My son, Nathan, and my daughter, Rowan, bring an unending
joy to our lives.
Outside of the classroom, I am an avid Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics fan. I
enjoy playing basketball and football. I play pick-up flag football every
Sunday throughout the year, and play in a league from September to November.
I am also currently enrolled in a Master's Degree program, where I am on my
way to earning a Master's in Education specializing in Curriculum,
Instruction, and Assessment (CIA, as the university calls it).
My philosophy is best illustrated by Home Depot's slogan: "You Can Do It. We
Can Help."
All students are capable of learning. This happens through teamwork. The
best way to help students be successful is if the students, the teachers, the
parents, and the community are all working toward the same goals.
I also feel that students need be well rounded, informed decision makers.
When students graduate from the 8th grade, never to walk through my classroom
doors again, it is important that students are prepared for the next
step in their journey to become active and productive citizens in our society.
