My students are saying they can't see things in HAC that I'm publishing?
Go to the assessment page of a class, if you do not see the green checkmarks
in the Publish Item and Publish Scores area of an assignment, then you did
not publish those assignments. To publish them, click on edit for an
assignment, click both boxes to Publish item and Publish score and click the
save link. The items are now published to the HAC site.
How do my students and their parents get access to HAC?
High school students and parents were sent a mailing prior to the start of
school giving them instructions and log in information. If a student did not
receive their HAC account information, they can get it from Mrs. Williams in
the high school computer lab or Ms. Kitzmiller in the Junior High school
attendance office.
If I publish a student note where does it show up in HAC?
The student note area is in the teacher gradebook next to a student's name
and appears as a speech bubble. Teachers can type information they would
like to privately remember about a student or they can publish the note so
that parents and students can view it in HAC. The student note bubble will
appear on the daily summary page next to the name of the class and can also
be found on the HAC schedule tab next to the name of the class.
Where does a comment made about a student assignment display in HAC?
A teacher can make a comment about a student assignment by clicking on the
score of the student's assignment and then clicking on the comment button at
the top of the gradebook screen. Once a comment has been entered for an
assignment, the score turns red to indicate that a comment was made about
that score/assignment. In HAC, a parent or student will be able to hover
over that score to see the comment that was made by the teacher.

Students are reporting that they can't open the attachments I've posted to HAC
There are a few possible reasons why this is happening.
1. If the students trying to download the attachment does not have the
program on their computer that the teacher used to create it, then the
student will not be able to open it.
2. If the students trying to download the attachment does not have a
compatible version of the program on their computer that the teacher used to
create it, then the student will not be able to open it. For example, if the
teacher created a document in MS Word 2003 and the student had Word 95 on
their computer, the file could not be opened.
In order to overcome this issue, teachers should save files as a pdf
document prior to uploading to HAC so that it could be opened by anyone with
the free Adobe Acrobat Reader program. A pdf file will also ensure that the
formatting of the document will remain intact when opened. If teachers need
to learn how to create pdfs, contact Jennifer Earl.
How do I publish assignments and scores from my gradebook to HAC?
In the assessments section of a class (where you type in your assignments)
you must click the check boxes marked, "publish item" and "publish score"
and then click save at the end of the assignment row. If you have already
typed in an assignment and did not check the publish boxes, return to the
class define assessments area, click edit (at the end of the assignment row)
put a check in the publish boxes and then click save. If you do not click
save after you make changes, the changes will be lost and you'll need to
redo that step.
Students report that they see a 0% in HAC for a grade the teacher exempted.
When a teacher exempts a grade for a student in TAC by using an X, it no
longer counts that grade in the average. However, the problem in HAC right
now is that it displays as 0% and does not indicate anywhere in HAC that the
grade was exempt. This problem has been reported to Pentamation and we are
waiting for this to be corrected in the HAC view.
