I have been employed by Bedford Public Schools as a full-time elementary
teacher since September, 2002. I have since taught grades 3, 4, 5, at
Jackman Road Elementary, Smith Road Elementary, and Douglas Road
Elementary schools. I have obtained an Associates degree from Monroe County
Community College, a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Eastern
Michigan University, my professional teaching certification from the
University of Toledo, and a Masters of Arts in Education degree from Spring
Arbor University.
My husband, Walt, and I have been married since 1985 and have two wonderful
children, Denise (1987) and Walter, Jr. (1991), in addition to my two
terrific stepdaughters Dawn (1970) and Darlene (1972). My husband and I are
graduates of Bedford High School as are all our children.
I enjoy reading, camping, gardening, and spending time with my family.
It is my primary purpose to create a positive and inviting learning
atmosphere for my students. I intend to encourage my students to become
compassionate citizens by modeling and expecting respectful behavior. I
will guide my students to become responsible individuals by holding them
accountable for age appropriate tasks. Meaningful classroom experiences
will enhance academic and personal growth for each student and hopefully
create a desire within to become a lifelong learner.
