About The Teacher

Hello!
I am Clara Talip and I teach ART to all the grades at MRE.
I really love drawing, painting, weaving and making POTTERY! My undergraduate
degree is a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences, ART major, from the University of
Toledo. I specialized in drawing and ceramics. My Master's degree is in ART
Education. For my Master's thesis I investigated the weavings of the Dineh
people(the Navajo)and the ways in which the Westward Expansion affected
their lives and craft traditions.

Who are my favorite artists? I enjoy the work of Marc Chagall and
Grant Wood. Mary Cassatt is my favorite female painter. Louise Nevelson is
my favorite sculptor. I admire Faith Ringgold because she is an artist, art
teacher and civil rights activist.

I am married to Maurice (Moe), and we have a small orange and white terrier
named Muffy. I enjoy working for The Toledo Lucas County Public Library,
mostly summers and some Saturdays, as a substitute librarian. I love reading,
dogs, flower gardening and Zumba!

Mission For The Class

My mission is for you to find a way to creatively express yourself through
ART by finding an art medium (or process) that you are good at. NOT everyone
is good at drawing...perhaps you are very talented with painting, chalk,
pastels, clay or computer art. The most important thing is to keep on trying.

I also believe it is important for you to view artworks done by famous
artists or by people of other nations or cultures. Looking at art will give
you ideas for your own work.

We have a big, beautiful ART room at MRE...bring your parents in to see what
we are creating!
