What type of silent reading will my child be required to do at home?

Students will be required to independently read at home for a minimum of 100
minutes per week. We understand the busy schedules that everyone has so
these minutes can be broken up over the course of the week. At Home Reading
Calendars will be sent home the first day of each month. You may also print
these by going to the reading calendar link.

Research shows that the amount of time children spend reading silently at
home and school improves their reading comprehension as well as their fluency.

What is the classroom government?

The classroom government gives the students an opportunity to have ownership
of the classroom and responsibility for their own decisions and behavior. At
the same time,it is a Social Studies learning experience because it is
modeled after our government system. This helps students, through
experience, become more aware of our democratic system of government.

Can my child bring a snack to eat during the day?

Our lunch time is at 1:05pm. We encourage students to bring a HEALTHY
snack
to eat in the morning, (10:30 am). We do ask that students do not bring
anything that can crumble easily. We get ants very easily and they love to
feast off of the crumbs that fall to the ground. We suggest fruit,
vegetables, beef sticks, cheese, sandwich, etc... PLEASE do not send
cookies, cakes, chips, or candy as a snack.
