About The Teacher
Meet Mrs. Werth ~ I have a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a concentration in childrens theater and elementary education, from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. My Master of Arts degree, with a concentration in reading, is from the University of Toledo. The education beyond my masters degree is in gifted education. I have served as a building representative on various district committees including the Language Arts, Math, and Professional Development committees. I also represented Douglas Road Elementary on the district Gifted and Talented committee. I was oneof four teachers from MRE, and 360 from the state, whowere selected as MI-CHAMPS for 2008-2009 Through the MACUL foundation. This is an organization for technology in education. At DRE I worked with one of my fifth grade classes to petition the district to start a Bedford recycling program. We successfully instituted both the plastifoam and paper recycling programs in tne district. The following year I represented Bedford Public Schools and presented our district's recycling model at the National School Board Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. In addition I have served as a chairperson of a North Central Accreditation visitation team to determine whether the Plymouth Canton schools could be NCA accredited. I have taught third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades.I also served as the reading specialist and gifted coordinator at Douglas Road School. While serving in that capacity I was responsible for bringing the Odyssey of the Mind and Michigan Future Problem Solver programs to Bedford.I was awarded the Outstanding Educator of the Year for Douglas Road Elementary,1992. Thank you for giving me the oportunity to work with your child this year.
