I am a proud graduate of the Detroit Public Schools (Henry Ford) and have
taught within the district for 14 successful years. My years prior to
teaching at CMA were all spent at my alma mater.
I have a B.S. in Secondary Education from Western Michigan University and a
Masters in English Education from Wayne State University.
As an educator, it is my goal to continue the evolution of my students as
they strive to become active learners and critical thinkers. I want students
to understand that not only is reading fundamental, but understanding reading
is paramount to individual success in school and life. It is also my goal to
build students who seek to acquire skills and not simply get good grades.
The student whose goal is to simply get a good grade will do so by any means -
copying answers from a classmate, plagiarizing from the internet, writing
incorrect answers verbatim from the text, etc. However, a student with a
thirst for knowledge and scholastic growth will work toward mental
development and will not settle for shortcuts nor the easy way out.
"Education is painful and not gained with playing games and being average." -
