December 11

Our holiday break begins next Tuesday, December 22nd, after a full day of instruction.  School resumes on Monday, January 4th.  Have a safe and joyous holiday, everyone!

The classroom Geography Bee competition will be held the week of December 15th in the fifth grade classrooms.  Each class will send two winners on to the school bee, which will be in Lars Auditorium on Thursday, January 7th at 8:30 a.m.  Study up, geographers!

Our winter holiday party committee is busily planning a holiday breakfast for next Friday, December 18th.  Parents are invited to come and help out.  A big thank you to Mrs. Ellery
and Mrs. Wagner for helping the fifth graders to orchestrate this festive event, which will run from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m.  Next Monday, the students will draw names for a Secret Santa gift exchange.  Each day, beginning on Tuesday, and leading up to the day of our party, students
are asked to bring a little, theme-based item for their secret friend.  The themes are as follows:

Tuesday, December 15        Gift should be red and white
Wednesday, December 16   Gift should be funny
Thursday, December 17      Gift should be edible
Friday, December 18           Final gift, $5.00 limit please (boys exchange with boys, girls
                                                      exchange with girls)

Homemade gifts are encouraged.  Get creative and have fun!

We are on our third and final grouping of news reporters for morning announcements.  This team will be "on the air" each morning from now until holiday vacation.  If you would like to watch your daughter or son on TV, you are invited to stop by the classroom one day at 8:00 a.m. to watch the CGN news team.

Intramurals are in full swing, thanks to our awesome physical education teacher, Mr. Farley.  Basketball is the first sporting event.  Parents are invited to come and watch your child's team play on Mondays and Fridays in the gymnasium.  Games run from 11:50 - 12:15 p.m.
