Fifth graders also will studying floating and sinking, light, sound, and eco-
systems over the course of the year. We will be having our second annual
Science Fair in the spring and many of our field trips will support our
science curriculum.
Many Science activities will be hands - on. Students will use the scientific
method to explore the topics studied. Science is also a place to use reading
and writing skills as well. Students will read from a variety of text and
learn how to analyze charts, graphs, pictures, and other data. Writing is a
natural offshoot of science study and there will be many opportunities for
students to do such things as record observations, expand vocabulary, and make
predictions.
Students are expected to come to Science class prepared and keep up with daily
assignments. Class materials will be handled with respect and safety.
Students will be asked to participate and make responsible choices.
