Homework

During the first week of school your child will bring home different
projects to complete to help the class get to know him/her. Have fun with
these projects and be as creative as you want.

The first project will be the homework bags. We will share these bags in
class so be sure to return it as soon as possible.

During the school year:

Students should read 20 minutes each night.

Read AR books at least three times before taking the AR quiz.
The goal is for your child to pass the AR test with an 80%. Students are
expected to take one AR test per week unless reading a chapter book.
Students are expected to pass 8 AR test per card marking.

The students will participate in a program called "Rocket Math". Students
should practice the addition facts daily. The goal is to master all
addition facts and move on to the subtraction facts.

Due to our new spelling program the students will not have weekly spelling
test. They will have "No Excuse" words which are expected to be spelled
correctly all the time. For more information, please visit the spelling
program page.

On occassion I will send home homework in which I feel the students will
benefit from extra practice. To avoid confusion I will stamp "HOMEWORK" on
all homework. On occassion there are rewards given out for students who
return their homework on time.

Students may also bring home any unfinished classroom work for homework.
This work will not be stamped.
