Word of the Day: facetious (adjective) meaning intended or trying to be funny. My brother thought he was being funny during the school assembly, but his facetious remarks only irritated the principal.

Student Announcements:

Happy birthday today to Christian Matye and this weekend to Ms. Grunch!

Remember when out this weekend to pick up a couple cans for the food pantry and a toy for Toys for Tots!!  Food Drive goes through December 16^th.

The next Rayder wear order will be placed TODAY. This will be the last order before Christmas.

FPS students will be selling candy grams next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at both lunch hours. Candy grams are 25 cents each.  Send them to friends, yourself, or your teachers. Candy Grams will be delivered on Friday Dec. 18 during last hour.

Family group meets today in the focus room last hour.

6th Grade Full band on Monday and Tuesday

7th and 8th grade full band today, plus Tuesday and Thursday next week.

Health Services Career lunch Wednesday. Return permission slip to Mrs. Gaffney.

FPS meeting Monday at lunch. 

Student council will meet Tuesday during 7th/8th grade lunch. 2 students are needed from each advisory to come represent your class.  Please make sure you are in Mrs. Pott's room by 11:20 on Tuesday Dec. 8

Mark your planners with the following dates -

6th grade Band Concert on December 8 at CHS at 7:00pm.

7th/8th grade Band Concert on December 10 at CHS 7:00pm.

7th graders will go to a performance of "A Christmas Carol" at Interlochen on the evening of December 11.

CMS PTA meeting for parents Monday Dec. 14 at 6:00 p.m.

8^th graders will have their class picture taken on Dec. 15.

7th/8th grade Christmas Dance December 18th 7-9pm. $4 admission.

Christmas Break is Dec. 21 through Jan. 1st.

Teen Film Festival @ the Library, Grades 7-12, Inquire @ Youth Services for film application and more information @ 237.7350. Make a film, submit it to the library, watch it with your peers on the library big screen & vote on the films. Start filming now!
--Tuesday, February 2: Films due by 7:30 pm. Will be cancelled if fewer than four films are submitted.

--Friday, February 19: 3:30 - 5:00 pm. Come watch the films & vote for films that you or your peers submitted for the festival.  Prizes will be awarded to participants and audience members

Athletic announcements:

No Rayder team basketball practice today. Next games Monday in East Jordan 4:30, bus 3:45. Rayder “evens” will play Monday.

5^th & 6^th grade boys basketball - First practice TOMORROW at 8:30 a.m. in the gym. Teams will practice through Christmas break and games will begin in January. 5^th & 6^th graders will practice together for the first week and then coaches will arrange future practice dates and times and let you know. $25 charge to play – payable to Charlevoix Public Schools. Players will receive a reversible practice/game shirt. Registration forms were sent home with boys on Nov. 30.

Anyone interested in joining the middle school ski team, sign up in the office now. Open to all middle schoolers. Coach Lundteigen will be calling regarding a parent/student meeting coming up soon.
