*We have homework approximatley once a week in second grade, possibly more
if a student has late work. Please watch your child's backpack for homework
assignments such as Spelling and the Phonic Library Story! Reading homework
will be a Phonic library story and a homework sheet each week. The
phonic library story will need to be returned within two days. Unfinished
daily work will also be homework when not finished at school.
*This year Second Grade homework will also consist of practicing the weekly
spelling words. The practice tests are on Monday and Wednesday, and the
final test is on Friday. Watch for your child's Spelling List and practice
tests so you can review these words with your child. The current spelling
list is always listed on this page.
NEED HELP TO STUDY THE WORDS: SpellingCity.com is a website that helps
students learn their weekly spelling words while having fun at the same time.
I will add our weekly spelling lists on SpellingCity and your child can
review the words, and play spelling games with their words to reinforce the
learning process. You can find our class list by simply clicking on "Find a
List" and typing in my name - Gorrell. The lists will appear and your child
can immediately start using it to practice his or her words. Please have your
child study each night during the week to improve their spelling.
