WELCOME TO MRS.GORRELL'S SECOND GRADE!

Thank you for attending the MSU Gardens and Dairy Store.  We had a great day 
and beautiful weather.

Classroom News:
*The take-home folder on Friday will always have the BI-WEEKLY updated 
announcements for the class. We are trying to save on paper so the classes 
at Dansville Elementary will be sending out the newsletter every other week.

DON'T FORGET TO RETURN THE LIBRARY BOOKS ON FRIDAY AND THE TAKE HOME 
FOLDER ON MONDAY EACH WEEK!  PARENTS I NEED YOUR HELP BY REMINDING YOUR 
CHILD ON THESE DAYS!

Our targets this week.

*Math
• I can measure an object using many different tools.

• I can choose which tool is best to measure an object.

• I can estimate the length of an object      
using inches, feet, centimeters, and meters.

*Reading/Writing
I know and apply grade level phonics.
I can use conventions when writing and speaking.
I can identify the main idea of a multiparagraph text.
I can use information from the illustrations and words to show understanding 
of the character, setting or plot.
I can demonstrate understanding of word relationship in word meanings.
I can use a known root word as a clue to the meaning of an unknown root word.
I can read on-level text orally with accuracy, appropriate rate, and 
expression on multiple readings.

*Science/Social Studies
I can name and tell the characteristics of a mountain, hill, plain, plateau, 
and valley landforms.
I can list bodies of water and characteristics of the bodies of water.
I can tell what ground water is and where it is found.
I can explain what erosion is and where it is found.
