Religion

I have sent home a copy of the Prayer of Sorrow for the children to practice.  This is a prayer they must know for Reconciliation.  I will begin testing them on this prayer on November 23rd.

We have begun our lessons on the sacrament of Reconciliation.  We learned that a parable is a story told by Jesus to teach us a lesson and is found in the Bible.  We read the parable "The Forgiving Father" and discussed how this parable teaches us that God will always forgive us and always love us.  We learned that we must do two things to receive God's forgiveness-we must say we are sorry in a sincere way and we must ask for His forgiveness.  We also learned what the differences are between a sin, mistake and accident.  Ask your child about the differences.  We learned that there is 4 parts to Reconciliation-confession, contrition, absolution and penance.

We will be continuing our lessons on this sacrament until after Christmas.

On Monday, November 30th at 8:20am in the gym, our class will be doing the first Advent prayer service along with the PreK classes.  I will be sending home more information on this.

Remember children watch everything we do, therefore we should be good role models for them to see.
