Science/Social StudiesWe began our unit on immigration and discussing the courage, strength and hardships that the immigrants faced when deciding to come to America. We made a web of the reasons that the decision to immigrate was made and we talked about how much had to be left behind when people left their homeland. The students' first assignment was to bring in a list of the countries in their background-this was due on Friday. On Monday, we will be using this list for the first project as we make a quilt of our countries. We will also be using this list to graph where the immigrants represented in our grade came from. The students also were asked to write what they would bring in their bundle if they were immigrants and these are due tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what they choose. These will be displayed in the hall.
Family interviews are due by December 4th, so be thinking about those.
I have already received quilts for our quilt display and these will be out after Thanksgiving in our classroom . I am still looking for more.
