5. Fundraisers:
Auction -- Brenda Washnock continues to lead plans and discussions were had regarding the need to establish committees to assist with the planning and implementing of the auction.
Kelly L’Huillier and Cheryl Turausky have volunteered to assist with the food needed. Cindy Lainten will handle tickets. Wendy Pelto and Mary Fish will plan decorations. Tia and Jon Arntsen will do the tables and checkout. Jen Gostomski will be handling the pictures for the H&S website.
Ticket sales for the auction will begin within the next few weeks. This will allow for the possibility of giving them as Christmas gifts.
Currently there are 8-10 boxes (20 bars/box) of chocolate left over. We will continue to try to sell these and will put a notice in the newsletter looking for volunteers to assist with helping to sell the remaining chocolate.
Fall
Bookfair – Cheri Bannon reports the bookfair continues at this time and is going well, however, anticipating a reduction in proceeds compared to last year
6. H&S Sponsored Events:
The family directory was completed by David Wells and looks great! It has been distributed to all staff and families.
Secret Santa Shop –This will be the last year Cheryl Turausky and Renee Leow will be heading this event. We will make the announcement in the newsletter as well as asking for anyone who would like to chair this event. Secret Santa Shop will be open Nov. 30 – Dec. 2.
Thanksgiving Celebration Lunch -- This will take place at the middle school on Fri. Nov. 20. We continue to look for volunteers to help with decorating.
7. Grant Requests/Updates
A request for a grant toward the purchase of a new basketball hoop for the elementary school gym was discussed. Amount to be requested not determined yet. The total cost is estimated at $ 8,707.00. The 4th grade classes are planning to raise money to pay for part of the expense. Possible fundraisers discussed were penny wars, a 50/50 fundraiser, and handmade items made by the classes which could be placed in the Feb. auction. The 4th graders are about to begin selling gold tee shirts and sweatshirts with the Father Marquette insignia on the front.
A $500.00 grant was approved for the purchase of food (meat & cake) for the retirement celebration of Karen Ogle. The celebration will be on Wed. Dec. 2 at St. Michael’s church after the 5:15 mass. It will be a potluck and all are invited. Those who wish to attend should RSVP to either of the school’s offices and let them know what category of dish you plan to bring. Wendy Pelto will be doing the decorations. Cathy Clement and Judy Allie will be providing the entertainment. Karen Ogle has been with Father Marquette for 28 years and will be sincerely missed. We hope to see everyone there as we say farewell to a wonderful friend and colleague.
8. Old Business:
The search for a copy of the H&S bylaws continues.
Staff Christmas party – We were in need of someone to host the party. UPDATE: Ketlyn Hubbard will be hosting this year.
