Dear Parents,
The students are very excited to be starting the Wee Deliver program.
Through this program, students are responsible for delivering the mail to the
school. Students of all ages write letters to each other and the 3rd grade is
responsible for delivering it. We have our own school post office for this
program. For this program, I need parent help from 8:45-9:15 Monday,
Wednesday, and Friday. I would prefer to have 3 parents, one for each day
that can commit for the next several weeks (until the 1st week in Jan)
starting this week. Please let me know if you can help with that and I will
get you started ASAP.
Conferences are Nov 17 and 18 please find your time in your child’s Monday
folder this week. If you have 2 students at Richland Elementary, their
conferences should be scheduled at times very close to each other. If not,
please let me know and we will try to make an adjustment. I tried to give you
your first choice in times and hopefully these times will work for you. If
for some reason you cannot make your schedule time, please let me or the
office know so we can adjust the schedule accordingly.
Even as I type this, it is almost 70 degrees outside. But, if you have lived
in Michigan, you know that winter can come out of nowhere. I have talked to
the kids, but want to remind all the parents as well to make sure the kids are
prepared for winter. Gloves, hats, boots, heavy coat, and snow pants are a
must at this age. If there is snow on the ground, students without boots or
snow pants will be required to stay on the blacktop at recess. As you can
imagine, this is not nearly as much fun as being able to play in the snow.
Also, you should plan on the students going outside at recess, never assume it
will be indoor recess. While it is true that if the wind chill is below 0 we
will keep the kids inside, you never know what the weather will be like in the
afternoon. If the temperature is above 0, we will be going outside, so be
prepared!
We are continuing to move forward in all our subjects. After finishing our
unit on money, we will be working on properties of addition and subtraction in
math. Our Friendship unit is almost done in reading and we will start our
unit on imagination. We only have a few lessons remaining in the light part
of our science unit, and we will start sound soon. We are working on map
skills in social studies. We will soon start our first of 7 regions of the US.
Please continue to work on homework with your children. They have
responsibilities each day for reading and math. They also generally have some
reading and math homework besides. Make sure to find those homework sheets
each week and help your children complete those assignments.
Thanks for all your help and have a good week.
