What if we can't do the homework because of practices/games?

You will always be given enough time to complete homework. Often times the
homework practice does not take long and/or can be done "on the road".
Third graders are learning the importance of priorities and will easily slip
into not doing their work if given an excuse.

How much reading should we be doing?

A weekly reading log will be coming home after the first few weeks. Your
child needs to be aloud at least a few times a week. This allows you to be
engaged with their reading progress and assist them with comprehension.
