Parent/Teacher Conference times/dates coming in your Friday Folder
1/2 day on Friday, November 6th: Release time: 12:30
Dear Parents,
It seems as if we are squeeeeezing in so much as we wrap up our first marking
period. It’s amazing how 4 days off from school can set us back.
We’ve had a busy week doing light and shadow experiments, wrapping up our
Pacific West Region unit, doing LOTS of writing to each other, the school AND
to Officer Maresh, a veteran of the Iraq war. Please be sure to ask your child
about Officer Maresh and all he has done for our country and the Village of
Richland!
A reminder that our Accelerated Reader goal for this month is with
non-fiction books only. This is a great learning opportunity for our children
to understand the different genre of books. Many are already well on their way
to their 1 point goal at 80% or higher to make the November goal.
Speaking of AR goals, you will find your child’s AR October Record Sheet in
the Friday Folder. Take a moment to check this out. It will tell the % result
of each test and how many points were earned. Remember, if a test is UNDER
80%, the point does not count towards the goal.
We have been working on the introduction to multiplication and geometry but
have spent a LOT of time on subtraction regrouping. We’ve worked with
manipulatives to understand the difficult concept of regrouping with double
zeros in place values. Phew! Seems most of us have it, but some still need
some extra practice at home.
Conference times are in the Friday Folder. Please mark this time on your
calendar. Most people wanted the evening slots so these are GOLDEN. If a
time is not going to work, please let me know a.s.a.p. so I can reschedule.
ASK YOUR CHILD ABOUT: Rotary Dictionaries, Teammates, Jackie Robinson,
Hamburger paragraphs, Officer Maresh, Shadow lengths and shapes, Parts of
Speech game, Data tables on the computer
Have a great weekend!
