About The Teacher Label:
About The Teacher
I've enjoyed teaching at Gull Lake for the past 19 years. Previously, I've taught sixth grade and third grade. This year will be my ninth year teaching first grade. It is by far the most challenging AND rewarding grade I've taught. The two the things I love about first grade the most is seeing the huge progress each child makes both academically and emotionally during their first grade year, and I really enjoy the connection I create throughout the year with each unique, individual child in my classroom. My husband John and I have two children. Ian will be a junior at the High School and Katie will be a seventh grader at the Middle School. I'm looking forward to another great year at Richland Elementary! We are so lucky to have student intern, Rebecca VanBuren with us this Fall. Ms. VanBuren is a graduate of Gull Lake High School and will be graduating from Spring Arbor College after she completes her internship with us!
Mission Label:
Mission
We will create a positive learning environment for all, where each child's uniqueness is valued and nutured. Our academic focus will be for each child to grow in self-confidence as a reader, writer, thinker and learner. We will have a wonderful year in first grade!
