About The Teacher
HI! Welcome to Mrs. Thompson's 5th grade webpage. This year I am teaching Reading in the Fifth Grade Foursome and a math class. I have been teaching for many years in Michigan, Alabama, and Virginia. This is my 11th year at Gull Lake. I have taught Special Education, 6th grade, 5th grade and been a school librarian. I am very excited about the Fifth Grade Foursome this year! I have two grown sons. My oldest son, Jonathan, live near me in Kalamazoo and is married. My youngest son, Zach, graduated in May from Michigan State and is doing is Teaching Internship in English at Grand Ledge High School this year. I have lots of other interests besides teaching and my children. I currently sing in my church choir and I love all kinds of music and play flute too! I love to read! I also love to garden - "play in the dirt" - and try to grow tomatoes, peppers, and strawberries. When I have time I like to "read" cookbooks and try out new recipes. I also like to walk and try to walk 4 miles almost everyday. My favorite quote is "I read...therefore, I am." So, lets get reading and have some fun in fifth grade!
